Commands & Help Topics
Every in-game help topic, straight from the server — always current.
This is the same help you get in game by typing help <topic>. It is generated straight from the server, so it never falls out of date. In the game, most of these actions are bound to keys with aliases — see the Aliases topic below.
Aliases
Also: alias, aliasing, macro, macros, key, keys, keybind, shortcut, shortcuts
Aliases are how you bind keys in Wyvern. You can be very creative in your approach, and being good at aliases will greatly improve your gameplay.
To bind a key, simply type alias <key> <command>
Example:
alias z get all
This will make it so that pressing 'z' on your keyboard will pick everything up where you are standing.
You can have up to 100 aliases, and each alias can be up to 100 characters long. VIPs get more alias capacity starting at VIP level 2, with 25 more aliases available at each successive VIP level.
You can put up to 4 commands in an alias by separating them with a semicolon character (';'). If you are using movement commands, you can have up to 8 in the alias.
An alias does not need to be a single character. You can make your own commands this way; for instance:
alias dance move n ; move s; move e; move w; turn s
Archery
Also: archer, bow, firing, shooting
There are two ways to fire a bow or range weapon: manually, or using autofire.
Autofire is a natural racial ability for Wood Elves, and is also available to members of the Archers Guild. If you have the ability, you can toggle auto-firing with 'autofire on' and 'autofire off'.
Autofire, when enabled, will continuously fire at nearby enemies using the best available arrows in your inventory. Training in the Range skill will increase your autofire speed, and also how far away you can target enemies.
For anyone who is not a Wood Elf or an Archers Guild member, you can fire manually by readying a bow or other range weapon, and shift-clicking in the map view in the direction you wish to fire. If you shift-click on a particular monster, it will fire at that monster.
You can also use Shift plus a direction key to fire in that direction manually, or bind your own keys to "fire n", "fire se", etc. for all 8 directions.
When you fire an arrow, bolt, sling stone, or other missile from a range weapon, it will automatically return to your inventory. However, it has a chance of disappearing on each shot, so you will gradually lose your ammunition as you fire.
Autobag
autobag is a powerful feature for automatically sorting items into your bags when you pick them up.
The game provides some built-in shortcuts for common autobag rules. Type 'autobag shortcut' to see them. You can, for example, type 'autobag shortcut potions' to place potions in your potion pouch automatically.
There are some autobag recipes available on the Wyvern wiki at wiki.wyvernsource.com.
The autobag manual is at ghosttrack.com/autobag if you would like to learn how to write your own rules.
Crowns
Also: crown
Crowns are Wyvern's in-game currency.
There are 3 kinds of Crowns: - starter crowns that you get on new characters - personal crowns that you get from quests and missions - account crowns that you can purchase (microtransactions)
Crowns can be used for a variety of goods and services, such as: - paying for training Skills at low levels - purchasing gold at ATMs (except for starter crowns) - renting high-end gear - resurrecting your character at a rez machine - skipping guild requirements - buying special items from vending machines
Some things can only be purchased with account crowns, such as the Private Jet for city-hopping.
You do not need to buy any Crowns to play Wyvern, but when you do, it helps support the game.
Groups
Also: group, grouping
You can group together with other players to share experience while adventuring.
Group members can chat with each other via 'grouptell'. You can also use the shortcut 'gt', e.g. 'gt hiya'.
Experience for kills is automatically split between group members, pro-rated by player level. Members must be reasonably close to the kill to get their share.
You can request to join someone by standing near them and typing 'follow <playername>' You can stop trying to follow them with 'unfollow'.
The group leader can group people trying to follow her by typing 'group <playername>'. The leader can also ungroup people with 'ungroup <playername>'. The leader can disband the group with 'disband'.
The leader can set the group name with 'groupname <name>'. You can see your group members with 'members'.
Healing
Also: heal, health
Wyvern has a few ways to sustain yourself. The two major ways are through passive regeneration and through spells.
The healing skill, as trained in the tutorial, increases your passive health regeneration and is pretty good when you have a few points of it. You would most likely supplement this method with healing potions.
Another way is through spells. To start off, healing spells require Lore to learn the spell. The Incantation and Life skills help boost your effectiveness in healing. Incantation reduces the mana cost per cast, and Life increases the healing power. Lastly, the Meditation skill increases your Mana regeneration.
The most basic healing spell is Minor Healing. A spellbook is always located in the New Verden Magic Shop for 250gp. Train 1 lore, buy the spell book and learn it. Additionally, train Incantation (no more than 7), Life (1-5 is good), or Meditation (1-5 is good).
Lastly, you should bind a keyboard key to cast it. Example:
alias s cast minor healing
When typed, your 's' key will now cast your spell.
Missions
Also: mission
A Mission in Wyvern is a named objective that gives you a compass and glowing footpath to follow, and yields rewards when you complete it.
You can accept multiple missions and switch between them. Use the "missions" command to manage your missions.
Note that some early Quests have Missions that tell you where to go, but later Quests do not (yet) have missions. We are actively adding more Missions to the game.
Shops
Also: shop, shopping, store, buy, sell
Wyvern shops are places where you can buy and sell items. You cannot steal items from shops. There are also auction houses, described in another help topic, where you buy and sell to other players, which can be more cost-effective.
Most shops specialize in a particular type of inventory, such as potion shops, or weapon shops. You can see all of the items for sale in a shop by typing 'shoplist'.
Before you buy an item, you can walk over it and use the 'appraise' command to get information about it.
To sell an item, click it in inventory and choose 'sell'. Or you can type 'sell <item name>'.
To sell all your junk, you can use either 'sell all' or 'sell inv'. The 'sell inv' command will sell all of the items you are carrying which are not marked as kept items. You can click an item and choose 'keep' to keep it, which prevents it from being sold.
The 'sell all' command will go a step further and sell stuff you are carrying, even inside bags, if it is not marked as kept.
If you buy an item and decide you don't want it after all, and you have not used or damaged it yet, you can get a refund by going back to the store and typing 'refund <item>'.
Skills
Also: skill
In Wyvern, you train in Skills to get more powerful.
Every time you go up a level, you get Skill Points. You can view your points with the 'score' command.
To spend your skill points, you need to visit a Trainer for the skill you are interested in. There are Trainers in New Verden, and higher-level ones in Minath Elion.
The trainers in New Verden are in the Training Hall.
You should spend your Starter Crowns to train at first. Later, it costs you gold, which you can earn by killing monsters and finding loot in the game.
You can un-train a skill by visiting the Untrainer, who lives on an island in the overworld, behind the dragon's head.
Choose your skills carefully, because they are how you specialize: combat, magic, defense and so on.
You can read some guides on specific builds on the Wyvern Wiki at wiki.wyvernsource.com.
Spells
Also: spell, cast, spellcasting, magic, mage, lore
Spells in Wyvern are essential to many playing styles in the game. Whether you specialize into being a full mage, or just have a few support spells, they can make or break your gameplay.
You learn spells by training in Lore, obtaining a spellbook of the desired spell, clicking the spellbook and choosing "learn".
Spells require mana to cast them, with more powerful spells needing more mana. Your mana is shown in the blue bar in the stats view, and regenerates over time, like your health. You can speed up mana regeneration by training in the Meditation skill.
Every spell has a school of magic that it belongs to. There are four schools: Evocation, Conjuration, Incantation, and Enchantment. You can train in these four skills to increase your power for all spells in that school of magic.
Each spell also has a Lore cost, which is the Lore level you must attain before you can cast that spell. You train in the Lore skill to gain access to more powerful spells. Moreover, you gain Lore points each time you train, which you spend on particular spells.
If you un-learn a spell, you get those Lore points back to spend on other spells.
Some spells require reagents, which are the ingredients needed to cast the spell. You can find reagents around the world, or buy them in magic shops. It is a good idea to keep your reagents in a reagent pouch, both to organize them and to reduce the weight. Spells will automatically consume reagents from your pouch.
Stash
You can use the 'stash' command to put stuff into bags.
Stashing an item tries to put it in the most appropriate bag for that item. Swords go into scabbards if you have an empty one, gems into gem pouches, potions into elixir pouches, and so on.
If the game cannot find a bespoke container for your item, then it will look for an empty bag. It finds the first bag in your inventory that can hold the item, and uses that.
There is also an 'autobag' command that will stash items automatically when you pick them up. 'autobag' is a highly configurable command that gives you flexibility to customize how you want your loot auto-stashed.
Tokens
Also: token
Loot tokens are dropped by powerful endgame Raid Bosses. Raid Bosses show up in Live Quests and at certain spots around the world of Wyvern.
You can also get loot tokens from certain monsters, and from doing Missions and Quests.
You can spend your loot tokens to purchase items you find on the ground after a Raid Boss dies. Or, you can save them up and spend them at Yojimbo's Pawn Shop machines in every major city, usually at blacksmiths and taverns.
Loot tokens cannot be transferred between characters.
